We all know that a mobile crusher mainly consists of the following parts: power system, walking system, electrical system, feeder, crushing host, and discharge section. We can see that many machines have a large hanging screen on the main discharge belt, and this is generally found on impact crushers. So why is it installed?

The actual situation of crusher use

Taking an impact crusher as an example, we know that after crushing, the resulting stone is irregular, ranging from stone powder to 100mm stones mixed together and output from the crusher's discharge port. This raises a question: If it's coal crushing, some stones might only be for convenient transportation, in which case there's no problem; various sizes can be placed together without affecting subsequent use.

However, if it's the production of building materials, such as recycling construction waste concrete blocks and reprocessing the finished stone, then stones of all sizes cannot be placed together. Taking the familiar C20 grade concrete as an example, it requires 42.5 grade ordinary Portland cement and 5-40mm (depending on specific conditions) aggregate. Therefore, the aggregate recovered by the crusher cannot be directly used for secondary concrete production; larger aggregates need to be removed. Many people would choose to purchase a screening machine, which is correct as it addresses the actual project needs. However, from an economic perspective, the project plan can be optimized.

What is the purpose of the hanging screen on the crusher?

This is where the hanging screen truly shines—it separates aggregates of different sizes without the need for a separate screening machine. As mentioned earlier, for example, if the project only requires mixed aggregates of 0-40mm, then simply adding a 40mm screen to the hanging screen will cause aggregates larger than 40mm to be returned to the crusher for further crushing, while aggregates smaller than 40mm can be directly output for secondary production. It's clear that adding a hanging screen reduces the original two-machine setup to a single machine, significantly reducing project costs and eliminating concerns about output.

Some might say that for different projects, sometimes I need two or even more different sizes of stone. Suhman anticipated this problem! Therefore, they increased the size of the hanging screen to 4.2m in length and 1.54m in width, allowing three screens to be installed simultaneously, producing up to three sizes of stone. For example, using 12mm, 32mm, and 40mm screens, you'll get stone of 0-12mm, 12-32mm, and 32-40mm sizes. Depending on the proportions, different strengths of concrete or other building materials can be produced.

Real-world example

In Taizhou, China, a building materials manufacturer recently introduced a Suhman SF-380D-2S impact crusher and screening machine. After large stones are fed into the crusher by a loader, three discharge belts stably output crushed stone at a rate of 180 tons per hour, producing 0-6mm, 6-13mm, and 13-34mm stones, which are then used in the production of highway raw materials.
