When buying a mobile crusher, what do you care about most? Price? Capacity? Durability? These are certainly important.

But 90% of buyers overlook a crucial component—the motor.

Crushers are major electricity consumers, with the motor accounting for over 80% of the total power consumption. A crusher running for 2000 hours a year can easily incur electricity costs of tens or even hundreds of thousands of yuan. Choosing the right motor means daily savings on electricity bills; choosing the wrong motor means buying a cheap machine but operating it expensively, causing constant worry.

Today, let's talk about motors and see why all DAINAMU mobile crushers come standard with the YE3 high-efficiency motor, and what this means for you.

I. What are the differences between YE2 and YE3 motors?

YE2 and YE3 are two different energy efficiency levels of three-phase asynchronous motors. The YE2 is a second-generation high-efficiency motor, introduced in 2005; the YE3 is a third-generation ultra-high-efficiency motor, launched in 2012.

The YE3 is not simply an "upgraded version," but a comprehensive optimization across materials, processes, and design.

What are the core differences?

Efficiency. The YE3 is 3% to 6% more efficient than the YE2. Don't underestimate these percentage points; I'll explain the calculations later.

Materials. The YE3 uses low-loss cold-rolled silicon steel sheets, and the amount of copper wire used is 15% to 25% more than the YE2. More copper means lower resistance, lower losses, and less electricity.

Heat dissipation. The YE3's airflow has been redesigned for better heat dissipation and lower operating temperatures.

Lifespan. The YE2 typically lasts 8 to 10 years, while the YE3 lasts 12 to 15 years.

Another very important point is that since 2021, China has completely phased out IE2 energy efficiency motors. This means that any newly manufactured industrial equipment using YE2 motors is no longer compliant. YE2 has been phased out at the policy level.

DAINAMU has used YE3 motors as standard across its entire product line from day one. Not because we're particularly picky, but because we believe it should be this way.

II. Five Major Advantages of YE3 Motors

  1. Energy and Cost Savings: Let's Do the Calculations

This is the most direct value of YE3 motors.

YE3 is 3% to 6% more efficient than YE2. Doesn't sound like much? Let's look at the numbers.

Assuming a crusher uses a 75kW motor, running 10 hours a day, 300 days a year:

A YE2 motor consumes approximately 245,900 kWh per year. A YE3 motor consumes approximately 236,800 kWh per year. How much difference is that? Nearly 9,100 kilowatt-hours of electricity.

At an industrial electricity price of 0.8 yuan per kilowatt-hour, one motor saves over 7,200 yuan per year.

You might think, "Only 7,000 yuan?"

But a crusher typically has more than one motor—one for a jaw crusher, one for a cone crusher, and one for a vibrating screen. With three machines, the annual electricity savings exceed 20,000 yuan.

If a crusher is used for 15 years, the total electricity savings over its lifespan will be over 300,000 yuan.

This is why I say, "Choosing the wrong motor can lead to a cheap purchase but expensive operation."

  1. Lower Operating Temperature

The YE3 motor operates at a temperature 10 to 15 degrees Celsius lower than the YE2.

This is important because for every 10-degree Celsius increase in motor temperature, the lifespan of the insulation material is halved. In southern summers, with ambient temperatures reaching 40-50 degrees Celsius, a YE2 motor can reach a surface temperature of 85 degrees Celsius after just two hours of operation, triggering overheat protection and shutting down. The YE3 motor only reached 72 degrees Celsius after running for 8 hours, and continued working.

Low temperature means no downtime, which means more work done, which means more profit.

  1. Low Vibration and Low Noise

The YE3 motor's rotor dynamic balance precision is one level higher than the YE2, and it uses precision-grade bearings. Combined with the vacuum impregnation process for the stator windings, electromagnetic vibration is reduced.

As a result, the YE3 motor's vibration level is 30% to 40% lower than the YE2, and its operating noise is 3 to 5 decibels lower.

In equipment like crushers, which are inherently noisy, every bit of motor quietness matters. Operators don't need to shout, the overall machine stability is better, and the lifespan of bearings and transmission components is extended.

  1. Stronger Overload Capacity

The working characteristic of crushers is that the load fluctuates greatly—a large rock suddenly crashes into the crushing chamber, and the motor instantly bears a load far exceeding its rated value.

The maximum overload capacity of a YE2 motor is 2.0 to 2.2 times, while that of a YE3 motor is 2.2 to 2.5 times.

What does this 0.3 times difference mean? With the same large piece of material coming in, a YE2 motor might trip and shut down immediately, while a YE3 motor can withstand the load.

Stronger overload capacity means less likelihood of shutdown due to material blockage, more powerful cold starts, and the motor is less likely to withstand critical conditions, resulting in a longer lifespan.

  1. Compliance with Global Regulations
Those in the export business are particularly aware of this.

Currently, major global markets—China, the EU, the US, Australia, and India—mandatory IE3 energy efficiency ratings for industrial motors. YE2 (IE2) is no longer compliant in these markets.

If your crusher is exported to these markets using a YE2 motor, customs may refuse passage.

DAINAMU comes standard with YE3, meaning the product naturally complies with the energy efficiency regulations of major global markets, posing no export obstacles.

III. How much money can YE3 actually save? Let's break it down a bit more.

A 75kW motor running for 2000 hours a year:

A YE2 motor consumes approximately 164,000 kWh per year, costing over 131,000 yuan. A YE3 motor consumes approximately 158,000 kWh per year, costing over 126,000 yuan. That's a difference of nearly 5,000 yuan per year.

Over 15 years, the electricity cost difference is over 70,000 yuan.

Maintenance costs also differ. The bearings in a YE2 need replacing every two years, while those in a YE3 only need replacing every three to four years. The insulation in a YE2 needs replacing every 5 to 6 years, while the insulation in a YE3 can last 8 to 10 years. The annual maintenance cost for a YE2 is approximately 3,000 yuan, while for a YE3 it's only around 1,500 yuan. Over 15 years, this saves over 20,000 yuan.

The lifespans are also different. YE2 motors generally need to be replaced every 7 to 8 years, meaning you'll need to replace them twice within 15 years. YE3 motors last 12 to 14 years, requiring replacement only once within 15 years.

How much more expensive is a YE3 motor compared to a YE2? Taking a 75kW motor as an example, the purchase price difference is approximately 2,000 to 3,000 yuan. However, the annual electricity savings exceed 4,800 yuan.

The extra cost is recovered through electricity savings in less than 8 months. After that, there are net savings every year.

By any calculation, YE3 is more cost-effective.

IV. How to determine if your crusher uses a YE2 or YE3 motor?

Three simple methods.

First, check the motor nameplate. There's a metal nameplate on the motor casing; the model number will be either YE2-xxx or YE3-xxx, making it immediately clear. The energy efficiency rating will also be marked as IE2 or IE3.

Second, check the energy efficiency label. Genuine YE3 motors have a Chinese energy efficiency label (blue label) clearly indicating the energy efficiency level.

Third, ask the manufacturer for certificates. Reputable manufacturers will provide CCC certification and energy efficiency test reports for the motor. If the manufacturer is hesitant or unable to provide these, they are likely using a YE2 or even inferior motor.

Fifth, Conclusion: Don't just look at the price when buying a crusher. The motor accounts for about 10% of the total cost, but determines 60% of the operating costs.

All DAINAMU mobile crushers come standard with YE3 high-efficiency motors. This saves thousands to tens of thousands of yuan in electricity costs annually, with lower temperature rise, more stable operation, less vibration and noise, stronger overload capacity, and less likelihood of shutdown. It also complies with global energy efficiency regulations, allowing for unimpeded export.

Over 15 years, a YE3 motor can save you over 70,000 yuan in electricity costs. It's a worthwhile investment.
