Last month, a DAINAMU SZ-450D tracked mobile heavy screening machine was officially delivered and put into production in Fujian.

The customer's working conditions are typical—mountainous mining, with raw materials containing a lot of mud and stones, and during the rainy season, the moisture content is also quite high. If ordinary screening equipment were used, the screens would clog in no time, forcing the subsequent crusher to stop operating.

What is a heavy screening machine? Why is it indispensable in a crushing line?

A heavy screening machine, also called a pre-screening machine (Scalper Screener), is the "pioneer" in the entire crushing production line.

Its work is simple: before the material enters the crusher, it filters out mud, fine materials, and moisture, only sending qualified coarse materials into the crusher.

It sounds simple, but its role is extremely important.

Mud and stone separation—this is the core function of a heavy screening machine. Many mine raw materials contain a large amount of mud and weathered layers. If these are fed directly into a jaw crusher, it's like using the cost of a crusher to crush mud, wasting capacity, increasing wear and tear, and affecting the quality of the final aggregate.

Primary screening—pre-screening removes fine materials that have already reached finished product specifications, eliminating the need for subsequent crushing processes. A single heavy screening unit can divert 30%-50% of the material, directly halving the pressure on subsequent crushers.

High-moisture materials still pass—ordinary screening equipment quickly gets clogged with mud when encountering materials with high moisture content, causing a sharp drop in capacity. Heavy screening units have large screen spacing and a robust structure, allowing for normal screening even with wet raw materials.

In short: Heavy screening clears obstacles for subsequent crushing equipment. Without it, the crusher is doing the work of a screening machine; with it, the entire production line can operate efficiently.

What can the SZ-450D do? Let's look at the on-site data.

This SZ-450D operating in Fujian has a stable actual capacity of 300 tons per hour.

Customer's raw material situation: Mined in mountainous areas, a mixture of soil and rock. High moisture content during the rainy season, resulting in wet and sticky materials. Maximum feed particle size is within 500mm. After screening: Fine materials (0-30mm) are directly diverted and do not enter the crusher. Coarse materials (over 30mm) are fed to the jaw crusher for further crushing. Soil and moisture are largely separated during the primary screening stage. The customer made a very practical comment: "The crusher used to clog every day, but now it only does the crushing work, making things much easier."

Fully Hydraulic System—From track walking, feed hopper folding, screen vibration to conveyor belt folding, everything is hydraulically driven. Initially, without a heavy-duty screen, the raw material went directly into the jaw crusher. Mud and stones were crushed together, the crusher's capacity was low, the liners wore out quickly, and the screening equipment was frequently clogged with mud. During the rainy season, it was even worse; the material was wet and sticky, and the entire production line almost came to a standstill.
